establishing a new office and modern laboratory in Porto, Portugal. They offer

As an Industrials
Scientist, you are responsible for providing solutions to customer needs and
requirements in the field of industrial coatings. Support sales of existing
portfolio to meet customer needs. This will be achievable through testing
commercial available products or newly developed products.
Your new role:
- Independent creation and implementation of customer specific projects.
- Evaluate the quality and application performance of new product candidates as technical support to Stage Gate Projects.
- Hands-on lab work in the preparation and testing of industrial water-, solventborne and solventfree formulations based on existing starting formulations.
- Update test formulas regarding newer raw materials and market trends.
- Discussion and communication of project status and results to supervisor and relevant stakeholders.
- Maintaining a record of all lab project work in written English by using existing software and databases .
- Support of the marketing department in creation of promotional data for product launches, fairs and congresses. Active participation in fairs and congresses.
- Technical support and guidance to quality, production and procurement departments.
- Active participation in technical training for commercial teams, distributors and customers.
- Maintenance and set-up of application preparation and measurement equipment in accordance to existing ELEMENTIS HSE and lab instructions.
What you'll need to succeed:
- Education: A degree in chemistry, preferably Master of science. Chemical Engineer. Relevant areas are Organic chemistry, Polymer chemistry, Physical chemistry,
- Experience: 5+ years of practical experience of industrial coating formulation, testing and customer collaboration/customer service.
- Experience in polymer synthesis is desirable but not required.
- IT Skills: Microsoft Office, Presentation software, Project management software,
- Desirable: Salesforce, JDE, Experimental design, Rheocompas
- Language Skills: fluent in spoken and written English, second language is beneficial (apart from Portuguese)
- Working arrangements: On site
- Travelling required: up to 10 % of travel required
This
position will have a fully on-site regime. Whilst this role
will be based at the Porto Hub, there will be occasions where you may be
required to travel to other Elementis sites.
